When a crucial professional support group at a large university was unable to provide the services they were chartered to offer because of escalating hostility and conflict between the professional and support staff, Pat Wiklund conducted an intensive group and individual sensing, facilitated several conflict resolution group meetings, coached key team leaders and supervisors on strategies to diffuse and resolve issues in real time and developed a transition plan for the interim manager to recruit, hire and orient a permanent group manager. return to top

 When feelings and stakes are high:

When a suit was filed after an initial prevention of sexual harassment training conducted by a local professor, an HR manager engaged Wiklund & Associates to train all employees on their rights and responsibilities in this sensitive and difficult issue. Several supervisors who attended the class asked Pat to provide special sessions on how to intervene, talk to employees and diffuse situations before they escalated. Over 600 employees and 75 supervisors attended the training programs. The fee for the training, while higher than the professor quoted, was less than 25% of the pretrial costs of the suit. return to top

Angry staff member disrupting a work group:

A disgruntled staff member was holding a student services department hostage with her rage. She lodged unfounded complaints about the Dean, harassed co-workers who would not align with her against the Dean, and undermined the work of the department with overt and covert malicious sabotage. We worked with the Dean and the staff members, held a series of problem solving sessions, and coached all members of the department on how to resolve issues and conflict in real time. We also worked with the difficult employee on career counseling and anger management. return to top
