When a senior executive was facing opposition among his staff and their employees, Pat Wiklund provided the behind the scenes coaching for effectiveness, conducted a staff "360" for confidential input and provided ongoing support during the ensuing organizational and personal style changes. The manager commented that Pat was able to accomplish in less than six weeks what he had been unable to do in more than a year. return to top Abrasive style preventing professional effectiveness: Senior management was counting on a Senior Director to design and carry the message on the implementation of new business process. His abrasive style of interacting with and presenting to his colleagues was preventing him from being effective. He found his colleagues were not listening, not giving him the input he needed and/or dismissing his new ideas and procedures out of hand. We coached him on both his presentation style and a more effective strategy for delivering his message so that people would listen, give him helpful feedback and be involved in the implementation of the new business processes. return to top Organizational design, implementation and ongoing support: When a technical manager was assigned to a multinational software engineering group that reported to a marketing manager and was chartered to reorganize the group so that it was more congruent with the product line, resolve cultural and communication issues that were causing product development time slip and become more responsive to customer needs, she called on Pat Wiklund to conduct intensive group sensings in both the United States and England, facilitate inter group meetings and suggest new procedures to help resolve communication issues, facilitate the reassignment of both individuals and task groups that were inconsistent with the organizational charter, and facilitate group meetings to resolve issues between the marketing and engineering components of the group. return to top For required courses with executives and senior technical contributors: When a CEO mandated an all hands diversity awareness program, Pat Wiklund was chosen to conduct the sessions for the executives and senior scientists. Her experience with technical employees, advanced degree scientists, and willingness to confront head on the participants' annoyance at losing a day to mandated training, led to high marks on the course evaluations and requests for further input in dealing with difficult diversity based issues within work groups. return to top To bolster and recognize front line personnel: Faced with a disgruntled secretarial/admin staff who were under appreciated and at the top of their wage grades, Pat was asked to develop a week long, off site training program that would serve both as a recognition of the service they provided while encouraging the participants to polish their professionalism.
